Shy Luv – Shock Horror feat JONES

“Look Mum, I’M A VIDEO GIRL!”

Well… it’s safe to say, that statement wasn’t one I thought I’d hear myself saying into the new year however by the way 2017 is currently going, I can already feel 2017 will definitely be a year of a lot of “cherry popping” experiences. Not to mention being forced (whether that’s kicking and screaming or obligingly) out of my comfort zone and thrust into new and exciting situations!

Stabiliser’s are off and I’m ready!

*insert flexing emoji here*

This quite aptly brings me onto this update…

In October last year I signed up to another London agency alongside my agency M&P Models, and that agency is called W Models, formally known as W Fitness.

Yes, that is right, I am now with TWO modelling agencies in London, and yes, budding models and signed models alike you can do sign with two modelling agencies in the same city but that only applies if the two agencies specialise in differing fields.

So for example, M&P Models specialises in primarily Fashion and Commercial work, whereas W Models specialises in commercial Fitness and Body/Parts work. So you may be wondering, why oh why am I mentioning this on this particular post, well one reason is… because I can 😉 (lol!) but also because this happened to be my first job with my new agency, W Models! As well as being my first job with my new agency, it was also my first ever music video shoot which was funnily enough a job I had always vowed not to do because I thought my awkwardness would shine through too much! lol Alas, the rest is history!

So…who is “Shy Luv” ?

London-based duo, Shy Luv (not to be mistaken for “Shy Love/Luv” the Pornographic actress who I stubbled across on wikipedia accidentally… awks!) are comprised of two down to earth, musical marvel’s named Sam Knowles and Jake Norman. The two originally just wanted to produce tracks with one another and send them off to other artists but once they heard just how well they worked together, decided to keep the magic for themselves and give birth to the pseudonym we now know them to be which is “Shy Luv”.

Which kinda reminds me of when I’ve been Christmas shopping for friends and family in the past and then end up keeping most of it all of it for me because it would just look so much better on me/in my room/in my pocket… am I riiiiight???? lol

Shy Luv are signed to the very successful and former indie label Black Butter Records, who are responsible for putting out records for Jessie Ware, Jess Glyne and everyone’s favourite, Rudimental. With a record label like BBR behind them, let’s hope they will be able to make superstars out of these maverick underdogs as well.

21st October 2016 – the shoot day!

We had a bright and early call time for 9.30am in Brighton but thankfully I didn’t have to travel down to Brighton by myself so early as I was picked up by Natalie Arnett, the lovely EP at riffraffThe first location was at “Megapixel Studio” where the other model, Arabella and I got our hair, make up and 3D scan done ahead of the video shoot later in the day. It looked a little something like this:

We had to position our bodies in various stylised poses to enable the 126 camera’s  efficiently scan our frame by taking multiple images of us at the same time so that they could be easily manipulated in post production at a later stage so we could become miniature versions of ourselves falling from the sky. It was such a surreal  experience!

After that we had lunch and then moved onto the second and last location of the day “The Brighton Studio“.

Here is where the the filming for the music video took place. Katie Swain was the DOP (Director of Photography) on set that day, basically that means she was the one filming the entire video by herself.  Seeing a woman as DOP on set instantly gave me a proud feeling of “yaaaaasss #GIRLPOWER” as I hadn’t encountered a woman in that role on set of a commercial or video shoot I had been on before. It’s nice to see that even in a male dominated field, women can still rise to the top!

The premise for the Shy Luv music video was to be:

a provocative and elegant quest to [find] Love… A unique video piece, [featuring] a world made of inflatable people: a colourful, surreal and very playful film.”

an endless crazy skydive jump with our duo [Shy Luv] and their clones. They will discover a giant inaccessible girl as if there were puppets traveling trough a surreal landscape…. Shy Luv [will be] 3D-scan[ned] in order to make them float as balloons all animated in cgi.”

After hearing this I knew it was going to be an awesome shoot.

We ended up wrapping by 6pm, which is quite early for a [music] video shoot, especially one as intricate as this. Most are known to overrun by a good couple of hours. However the team worked tirelessly to make sure we were all back in our abodes in time to beat most of the rush hour dash home.

Check out some behind the scenes pics below and my cameo on the official Shy Luv Vevo account!
